Ice cream can go bad

Lord knows I love ice cream, but...

Just, no.

I realize you are entrepreneurs, maybe even visionaries, who are actively seeking to create something genuinely different, and you are obviously very passionate about your work. I get that. Good for you. Still, no.

Their manifesto:
In an age of pandemics, epidemics, foreign wars, global meltdowns and MP’s expenses, what’s left to believe in? The Icecreamists offer hope and consolation in the face of darkening economic skies and a dystopian society. An undimmed faith in the restorative power of pure, fresh boutique ice cream to soothe your soul and heal your anxieties. The Icecreamists is communal, spiritual and political, with a power to reach out and bring people together regardless of race, colour and creed.
No, you offer ice cream. Probably very good ice cream! Still frozen sugar milk, not hope and consolation. (also: likely to cost many times more than what you'd like to spend with "darkening economic skies") Whatever, marketing bullshit, etc. I can ignore that.

I cannot ignore this.

That is what you want your ice cream restaurant to look like. That is your choice.

I think I will stick to my stuff, thanks.

Haiku Review: District 9

I remember I used to do these once in a while.

The only movie
I have seen where someone is
killed by a thrown pig.

Sure, it left questions
unanswered on purpose, but
damn, I have questions.

Dear negligent mom:
WHY DID YOU BRING YOUR TODDLER
TO THIS R MOVIE?

Carrot Cake Ice Cream

The color is indeed carrot. Taste-wise, it's more carrot-y than the bacon was bacon-y. There are also small inclusions of cream cheese distributed thoughout the ice cream custard matrix, which are uniformly delicious. (You love material science terms.) Considering it contains whole milk, heavy cream, butter egg yolks, and cream cheese, it's not one of my healthiest recipes. I like it, but I don't think it's going to enter my regular rotation.

Cake Decorating Final

It's not perfect, but considering it's the first time I really brought everything together, I approve. Practice makes perfect, boys and girls.

Two pies in three days? My, I do believe I am coming down with a case of the vapors.

Happy Birthday Andrew

Yes, maybe your birthday was actually weeks ago.

...hey look, pie! Blueberry!

I'm not sure what this blog should be, exactly. Do you people want the recipes for this stuff? In all honesty, the blueprints for these delicious baked goods don't spring forth from my forehead fully formed, like the goddess Athena. They are the end result of a deeply personal spiritual journey that involves a) going to the google and b) typing in "recipes." 90% of the time, my modifications are simply either adding nutmeg (mmm, nutmeg) or substituting a cheap/easy to find ingredient for an expensive/rare one (cream cheese for mascarpone, anyone?).

Adding to the problem is the urban sprawl of my blog community. Blogspot lists 8 of them, three of which are technically the same, one which only updates one month out of every year, and another to which I don't exactly... contribute. At all. The bulk of my internet presence is spread over the three most-frequently updated ones, and that's probably two (or three) more than is necessary.

What is a boy to do?
